Medical Writer or Senior Medical Writer (Publications)

Develop high-quality scientific and medical manuscripts, conference abstracts, posters, and slide decks. Collaborate directly with clients and team members to ensure accurate scientific representation and compliance with industry standards. Translate complex data into engaging storylines with clear and confident communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and revise abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and manuscripts for submission to medical journals and conferences.
  • Serve as the central point of communication with clients to lead meetings, route drafts, maintain alignment on scientific messaging, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Visually highlight key insights through figures, posters, graphical abstracts, and slide decks.
  • Ensure all publications meet regulatory and ethical guidelines, including ICMJE and GPP3 standards.
  • Contribute to publication plans and strategies, helping to ensure timely and effective dissemination of study results and other central findings.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, scientific advancements, and publication best practices.
Required
  • A PhD, PharmD, or MD in a scientific field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical writing. Publication experience while earning a doctorate degree may be substituted — newly defended or soon to defend PhDs and post-docs are welcome to apply!
  • A minimum of 2 years of agency or industry experience is required for senior medical writers.
  • Strong understanding of the research process and data analysis.
  • Experience with manuscript writing for peer-reviewed journals and preparing conference materials (e.g., abstracts, posters, oral presentations).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and reference management software (e.g., EndNote, Mendeley).
  • Preference will be given to candidates who live in or are willing to relocate to any of the following remote-friendly states: AR, AZ, DE, FL, GA, IN, MI, MT, MO, NC, NE, NH, NV, PA (outside of Philadelphia), SC, SD, UT, WI, or WY.
Preferred
  • Research and/or writing expertise in at least one of the following areas: immunology, neuroscience, oncology, dermatology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, ocular health, or nutrition science.
  • Experience in writing clinical trial publications or HEOR/RWE.
  • Familiarity with graphic design programs (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, GraphPad Prism, BioRender and Adobe InDesign) and publications management software (e.g., Datavision, Veeva Vault).

Come collaborate directly with industry-leading researchers and healthcare providers across immunology, oncology, neuroscience, dermatology, gastroenterology, infectious disease, and more key therapeutic areas to create impactful publications that elevate the patient voice and influence healthcare practice and policy!

This position requires excellent writing skills, strong scientific background, clear and confident communication, and the ability to translate complex data into engaging storylines.

  • Ongoing Education: Stay updated on industry trends, scientific advancements, and publication best practices.
