The Surgical Retina Surgeon will perform advanced surgical procedures for retinal diseases, conduct comprehensive retinal examinations, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated patient care. The role involves maintaining detailed medical records, staying current with advancements in retinal surgery, educating patients and families, and optionally participating in clinical research.
Key Responsibilities
- • Perform advanced surgical procedures for retinal diseases including retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and vitreoretinal disorders.
- • Conduct comprehensive retinal examinations and diagnostic testing to develop individualized treatment plans.
- • Collaborate with optometrists, general ophthalmologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
- • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
- • Stay current with the latest advancements in retinal surgery and participate in continuing medical education.
- • Educate patients and their families about diagnosis, treatment options, and post-operative care.
- • Participate in clinical research and contribute to the advancement of retinal surgical techniques (optional).
Required
- • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- • Board certification or eligibility in Ophthalmology.
- • Fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Surgery or Surgical Retina.
- • Proven experience performing complex retinal surgeries.
- • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- • Commitment to providing high-quality patient-centered care.
Preferred
- • Valid medical license to practice in the state of Texas PREFERRED
