The Vice President, Employee Health Services provides senior clinical leadership for RWJBarnabas Health’s Employee Health & Wellness division, overseeing clinical operations and advancing clinical protocols, quality systems, and regulatory compliance. This role combines 50% active clinical practice with 50% administrative and strategic leadership, ensuring clinical excellence and oversight of system-wide initiatives while collaborating with multiple stakeholders internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities
- • Provides strategic clinical expertise and leadership for all Employee Health & Occupational Medicine services, ensuring alignment with RWJBH’s mission, regulatory requirements, and organizational priorities.
- • Serves as the clinical executive liaison to senior system leadership, regional leaders, Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, Infection Prevention, and external employer clients.
- • Leads the development, approval, and systemwide implementation of clinical policies, protocols, practice standards, and workflows.
- • Oversees and ensures high-quality delivery of all occupational and employee health services, including pre-employment / post-offer medical evaluations, Workers’ Compensation injury assessment and management, fit-for-duty evaluations, return-to-work assessments, bloodborne pathogen exposure evaluation and follow-up, immunization compliance, infectious disease surveillance, respirator clearances, drug and alcohol testing.
- • Establishes clinical quality dashboards, KPIs, and performance improvement programs to support safety, standardization, high reliability, and regulatory readiness.
- • Ensures compliance with OSHA, CDC, NJDOH, ADA, DOT, Joint Commission, and all state and federal regulations.
- • Provides direct oversight of physicians and the Director of Clinical Services, with APPs reporting through the Director across regional hubs.
- • Recruits and retains top talent to support the continuation of clinical excellence across all sites.
- • Oversees credentialing, privileging, competency assessments, and adherence to scope of practice.
- • Fosters a culture of accountability, professional development, high performance, and excellence.
- • Maintains active clinical practice, performing a variety of occupational and employee health evaluations and serving as the clinical escalation point for complex, high-risk, or sensitive cases.
- • Models evidence-based, efficient, and service-oriented clinical care.
- • Monitors and integrates emerging trends in Occupational Medicine, Employee Health, population health, regulatory policy, and healthcare delivery.
- • Identifies and champions innovative models, technologies, and process improvements to advance service quality, automation, efficiency, and client/employee experience.
- • Represents the service line in national forums, professional associations, and system committees.
Required
- • MD or DO with active or eligible New Jersey medical license
- • Board certification required (Occupational Medicine strongly preferred)
- • Minimum 5 years of senior clinical leadership in Occupational Medicine or Employee Health
- • Minimum 5 years of clinical practice in Occupational Medicine post-residency
- • DOT Medical Examiner certification or ability to obtain within six months
- • MRO certification or ability to obtain within six months
- • Demonstrated success leading multi-site teams, clinical operations, and regulatory programs
- • Proven track record of quality improvement, standardization, and operational transformation

Job Overview
The Vice President, Employee Health Services serves as the senior clinical executive of RWJBarnabas Health’s Employee Health & Wellness division, providing enterprise-wide leadership for all clinical operations within Corporate Care/Employee Health. This physician leader is responsible for establishing, standardizing, and advancing clinical protocols, quality systems, safety practices, and regulatory compliance. The VP also supports the business development efforts of the division as the clinical expert who meets with external clients and provides clinical oversight to all external corporate care contracts.
This role blends 50% active clinical practice with 50% administrative and strategic leadership, ensuring both hands-on clinical excellence and high-level clinical oversight of system-wide initiatives. The VP operates in a dyad structure with the SVP. Corporate Care/Employee Health and will oversee the clinicians in Employee Health Services. The VP collaborates with operational, HR, Legal, Risk, and executive stakeholders and represents Employee Health as the primary clinical liaison internally and externally.
