Moonlighter Physician, Pediatrics

The Pediatrics House Physician provides medical care to children from birth to early adulthood in both in-patient and hospital outpatient settings. The role involves examining, diagnosing, treating pediatric patients, administering immunizations, documenting medical records, educating parents or guardians, and responding to pediatric emergencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses.
  • Administer various immunizations that are available to protect children from diseases such as hepatitis B, diphtheria, polio, measles, and mumps.
  • Write orders for the implementation of the plan of care.
  • Compile and document all pediatric patient assessments, interventions and evaluations in the medical record and complete and sign all medical records.
  • Work with children patient parents or guardians to teach them how to provide proper care to their children on regular basis.
  • Participates in the hospital’s Risk Management Program and follows all rules and regulations of the program, as well as the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of SAH.
  • Participate in quality assurance and utilization review when necessary.
  • Respond to all pediatric codes and other emergencies in the hospital and is responsible for the emergency medical management of the patient.
Required
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Maintain a permanent license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois.
  • Strong initiative and good judgment and decision making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize time sensitive assignments.
  • CPR and PALS Certified.
