Pediatric Palliative Care Physician

This role involves attending on a busy inpatient and outpatient consultative pediatric palliative care service, supervising trainees from various disciplines, and participating in all activities of the Division. The Department of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time non-tenure-eligible Clinician Educator at the rank of Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor. Responsibilities include attending on a busy inpatient and outpatient consultative pediatric palliative care service at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, supervising trainees from various disciplines, and participating in all activities of the Division.

Qualified candidates will be Board-certified or eligible in Pediatrics Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Applicants with board certification in additional pediatric sub-specialties (Critical Care, Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, etc.) will be highly competitive. The initial academic appointment at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine will be commensurate with experience and academic achievement. The salary is competitive and adjusted based on experience.

The successful candidate will join a growing group of practitioners, including physicians and APNs, a Psychologist and Chaplain. The program also includes a pediatric palliative care Fellowship and a second Fellowship dedicated to a perinatal palliative care track. The division has a well-established consult practice with growing ambulatory expertise and infrastructure to support academic productivity.

The start date is negotiable, and the position will remain open until filled.

The expected base pay range for this position at an Assistant Professor is $184,543 - $206,000 or an Associate Professor range is $219,452 - $279,455.

Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal comparators; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
