The Chief Medical Officer leads all medical and clinical teams, ensuring clinical and fiscal responsibility of medical services. The role involves formulating hospital policies, monitoring physician performance, supervising quality improvement programs, and coordinating responses related to professional privileges and hospital research projects.
Key Responsibilities
- • Leads all medical/clinical teams, adapting to the changing physical medicine rehabilitation healthcare environment.
- • Ensures all medical services provided by the hospital/Medical Staff are clinically and fiscally responsible.
- • Formulates, recommends, and implements Hospital policies and procedures governing patient care in accordance with generally accepted standards of professional practice in consultation with the Medical Executive Committee, the Medical Staff, CAO, and the Hospital’s CEO.
- • Monitors physician performance and makes recommendations to the Medical Executive Committee for appointment/reappointment of Medical Staff members based upon review of credential profiles, findings of professional misconduct proceedings and/or malpractice actions and for modifications, suspension, and termination of Medical Staff privileges, in accordance with the Medical Staff’s Bylaws, Rules and Regulations (collectively, the “Bylaws”).
- • Coordinates all activities as required by the Health Care Quality Improvement Act of 1986, as amended.
- • Supervises Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance programs. Addresses all findings, conclusions, recommendations, and actions taken by all hospital clinical committees.
- • Oversees and coordinates all responses to requests from hospitals concerning the granting or renewing of professional privileges or association of practitioners.
- • Serves as the Medical Staff representative to the Hospital’s CEO.
- • Directs the following departments: Medical Outpatient Telehealth Clinic, Dental Clinic, Radiology, Laboratory, and Pharmacy.
- • Monitors, evaluates, and makes specific recommendations concerning the quality and appropriateness of patient care provided by the Medical Staff.
- • Exercises supervision over the work of the Medical Staff members in the Hospital so that observance of the Bylaws and Hospital policies and standards of professional care of the Hospital are maintained.
- • Schedules Medical Staff to ensure appropriate coverage during hospital hours of operation, as well as on-call and emergency coverage.
- • Acts as a liaison with the admission department, nursing, therapies, and other allied health professionals.
- • Oversees any and all research projects involving the hospital.
- • Coordinates educational programs pertinent to the Medical Staff and monitors post-graduate trainee programs of the Hospital.
- • Formulates and implements fiscal policy and planning related to the medical administration of the Hospital.
- • Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO.

$320,000

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
