The Senior Director, Field Medical (MSL) – Oncology leads and executes U.S. field medical strategies to support the oncology portfolio across pre-launch and post-launch stages. This role builds and leads a high-performing MSL team, drives scientific engagement with Key Opinion Leaders and healthcare stakeholders, and generates actionable insights to inform medical and business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- • Develop and execute U.S. Field Medical strategies aligned with overall Medical Affairs objectives
- • Build, lead, and scale a high-performing oncology MSL team
- • Support the VP, Head of Medical Affairs in shaping innovative medical strategies addressing KOLs, HCPs, patient advocacy groups, and professional oncology associations
- • Define and monitor KPIs to assess field medical effectiveness and impact
- • Proactively expand and strengthen relationships with national, regional, and local oncology KOLs and HCPs
- • Ensure high-quality, compliant, non-promotional scientific exchange across stakeholders
- • Lead and support scientific engagements including advisory boards, investigator meetings, and HCP education programs
- • Represent the company at medical conferences (e.g., ASCO, IASLC conferences), including booth staffing, 1:1 KOL interactions, and data collection from clinical practice
- • Support clinical development activities including Investigator Meetings and Site Initiation Visits
- • Lead field medical readiness for oncology product launches, including disease education and scientific narrative development
- • Provide field insights to inform clinical strategy, evidence generation, and commercialization planning
- • Partner closely with Clinical Development, Commercial, HEOR, Market Access, and Regulatory teams
- • Ensure compliant collaboration with field-based colleagues, including sales and HEOR
- • Contribute to publication planning, competitive intelligence, and broader medical strategy
- • Ensure all field medical activities adhere to regulatory, legal, and compliance requirements
- • Stay current on external regulatory and compliance standards to proactively manage risk
- • Implement systems and processes for insight capture, reporting, and analytics
Required
- • Advanced degree required: MD, PhD, PharmD, or RN with strong oncology expertise
- • 10+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, including significant Field Medical/MSL leadership experience
- • Minimum 5+ years of field medical experience in oncology, with demonstrated KOL engagement at national, regional, and local levels
- • Strong background in oncology required
- • Demonstrated excellence in interpreting and presenting complex oncology data
- • Proven experience leading or moderating advisory boards, investigator meetings, and scientific programs
- • Strong understanding of U.S. oncology landscape, clinical practice, and competitive environment
- • Ability to synthesize global medical trends, customer insights, and competitive intelligence
- • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- • High level of integrity and commitment to compliance

- • Solid tumors experience preferred, particularly in lung cancer

Position Summary
The Senior Director, Field Medical (MSL) – Oncology will lead and execute U.S. field medical strategies to support the company’s Innovative Medicines oncology portfolio across pre-launch and post-launch stages. Travel Requirements:Approximately 40–60% travel required
Compensation & Benefit:
Salary range: Base $220k-$260k, plus STI & LTI.
The salary range for this role reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full-time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The salary range may be higher or lower based on geographic location, and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job-related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, and other relevant factors. The job title may be adjusted based on candidate experience and qualifications.
Short-Term Incentive (STI) and Long-Term Incentive (LTI) plans are based upon company and/or individual performance.
