The Associate Medical Director oversees all medical services within the Child & Family Services Division, ensuring integration with treatment planning and compliance with agency policies and standards. The role involves providing clinical consultation, training, supervision, and direct clinical services including psychiatric evaluations and medication reviews, with 24-hour on-call availability.
Key Responsibilities
- • Responsible for the oversight of all medical services within the Child & Family Services Division.
- • Participate in the development and implementation of all policies and procedures governing the provision of the Division’s medical services, assuring consistency with the agency mission, agency-wide policies and licensing and accreditation standards.
- • Coordinate and integrate medical services with treatment planning and delivery of care in close collaboration with the Medical Director and SVP for Child and Family services.
- • Provide clinical consultation and support to Outpatient, Crisis, Community Outreach, and Residential Teams and/or arrange oversight for their meetings.
- • Work with program managers to oversee client treatment plans.
- • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with community health organizations and outside medical services to ensure coordination of client care.
- • Provide clinical training, education, and mentorship to medical staff, therapists and multi-disciplinary team members to enhance knowledge, promote best practices, and support professional development across the organization.
- • Provide individual and group supervision of Division psychiatrists and APRN’s to ensure compliance with accepted practice guidelines.
- • Facilitate and/or participate in program meetings addressing risk.
- • Chair Outpatient Admission Review meetings to authorize treatment.
- • Manage performance of the Child and Family Psychiatrists and APRN’s to CHR expected standards.
- • Review the prescription practices of Division’s psychiatrists and APRN’s.
- • Review the practices of the nursing staff and medication certified residential staff to ensure adherence to appropriate medical practice.
- • Evaluate the quality and cost-effectiveness of agency Child and Family medical services through utilization of the agency’s Performance Improvement System and through direct supervision of medical staff.
- • Participate in agency-wide performance improvement initiatives to review and improve upon CHR standards of care for Child and Family Services.
- • Provide direct clinical services to clients, including psychiatric evaluations, diagnostic assessments, ongoing treatment, and medication reviews for clients referred from outpatient, crisis, community outreach and residential programs.
- • Provide 24-hour on-call availability, consultation, and support for the Division.
- • Conduct case conferences/consultations as required internally and participate in those initiated by payers.
Required
- • M.D. Psychiatrist – Board Certified in Psychiatry, Board Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- • Experience with seriously emotionally disturbed children and adolescents.
- • Experience working with multi-disciplinary team.
- • Experience and commitment working in a managed care environment.
- • Experience in working collaboratively with professional staff from other disciplines.
- • Experience implementing Joint Commission accreditation standards.
- • Experience in planning, supervising and executing a comprehensive child and adolescent psychiatric medical service program.
- • Current licensure by State Board of Medical Examiners to practice medicine in CT.
- • Board certifications in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

JOB TITLE: Associate Medical Director

SCHEDULED HOURS: Monday-Friday 8:30AM-5PM
PROGRAM/LOCATION: Child and Family Programs, Manchester CT- will require travel to surrounding CHR locations (Manchester, Enfield and Willimantic)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative & Clinical Management (40% effort)
