Research Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, Epidemiology

This faculty position involves joining the Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Preventive Medicine with a focus on bioinformatic research. The role emphasizes expertise in multi-omics bioinformatics analysis and the development of scalable computational workflows for biomedical research.

Required
  • PhD or MD degree with a track record of Bioinformatic Research
  • Must be eligible to work in the US
Preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in multi-omics bioinformatics analysis (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, metagenomics) and development of scalable computational workflows for biomedical research.
  • Experience applying machine learning and statistical modeling techniques to large biological datasets for biomarker discovery, disease prediction, or host-pathogen investigations.
  • Proficiency in bioinformatics programming and high-performance computing environments, including Python, R, Linux-based workflows, and HPC/cloud platforms for reproducible pipeline development.
  • Evidence of strong scholarly productivity and research dissemination, including peer-reviewed publications, manuscript development, and presentation of findings at scientific conferences, along with demonstrated experience mentoring or training students/staff.
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.

Position Summary The University of New Mexico, Health Sciences Center, Department of Internal Medicine, seeks faculty members to join the Division of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Preventive Medicine. This position is an Assistant Professor rank and Research track.  Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and education.   Qualifications
