Physician, 9 Month Salaried

Performs diagnostic exams and evaluations to identify illnesses and injuries, initiates appropriate treatment and diagnostic procedures, and provides referrals to specialists as needed. Documents patient information in the Electronic Medical Record and serves as a consultant to nursing and clinical staff while participating in professional committees and educational activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs diagnostic exams and examinations for specific complaints for the identification and evaluation of illnesses and injuries.
  • Initiates medically sound treatment options, diagnostic laboratory tests, x-rays, and other procedures as indicated.
  • Reviews and discusses with patient the results of laboratory, x-ray and other procedures.
  • Provides medically indicated referrals to other specialists/consultants when necessary.
  • Performs medically indicated minor surgical and non-invasive diagnostic procedures.
  • Documents the patient history, physical and emotional state, diagnostic findings and treatment in the patient's Electronic Medical Record.
  • Serves as consultant to nursing staff and other staff clinicians.
  • May serve as preceptor to students on clinical rotations.
  • Attends and participates in University Health Services professional and administrative committee.
  • Conducts case presentations, special projects, and other related assignments, as assigned.
  • Actively participates with other medical staff in implementing approved policies and procedures emanating from these committees.
Required
  • Licensed to practice medicine in accordance with Chapter 458 Florida Statutes plus four years of experience. Completion of a residency program may substitute for the required experience.
  • Medical License
  • Drug Enforcement Admin License
  • Current CPR Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
Preferred
  • Knowledge of and ability to safely perform medical examinations and/or tests on patients including but not limited to X-Rays, EKGs and radiological exams.
  • Knowledge of prescription drugs and other medications and the standard concepts, practices and procedures related to pharmaceuticals.
  • Ability to assess patient condition independently or in consultation. Provide appropriate treatment or referral for treatment.
  • Ability to differentiate emergency from non-emergency situations.
  • Ability to deal with crises and manage sensitive information.
