Kent provides a robust spectrum of inpatient and outpatient services designed to meet the diverse health needs of our community, including primary care (adult and pediatric), internal medicine, dermatology, oncology and hematology, orthopedics and sports medicine, pulmonary and sleep medicine, cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), chemotherapy, diagnostic imaging, surgery, and rehabilitation services.

The hospital operates three ambulatory care sites — one on the Kent Hospital campus in Warwick, RI, one at Butler Hospital in Providence, RI, and another in Pawtucket, RI. Additional operations include the Women’s Diagnostic Imaging Center, Wound Recovery Center, Breast Health Center, and multiple laboratory locations.

Kent is starting several major renovations on the main campus, including the development of a new ambulatory building, expansion of the cath lab and renovation of the emergency room.

Kent Hospital is a major teaching affiliate of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. These affiliations support Kent’s role as a teaching hospital, offering clinical training and residency programs in internal medicine, family medicine, emergency medicine, and other specialties. Kent Hospital also maintains clinical affiliations with Mass General Brigham. The affiliation provides patients at Kent Hospital with access to specialized care from MGB’s network, including cardiology, thoracic, and colorectal surgery.

Over the last few years, Kent Hospital and the senior leadership team have made significant strides in improving overall hospital quality scores and this continues to be a critical area of focus.

Kent Hospital is deeply committed to addressing the behavioral health needs of the community. It operates a 29-bed behavioral health unit in partnership with Butler Hospital, ensuring integrated care for patients with mental health and substance use disorders.

Moving Forward

The vision for the future of Kent Hospital is grounded in a bold, strategic commitment to delivering exceptional care across every stage of the patient journey. As healthcare needs evolve and the demand for high-quality, accessible services grows, Kent is advancing on three foundational pillars as a blueprint for a healthier, more connected community. The three key pillars include:

A High-Acuity Acute Care Campus: Kent will continue to develop its core acute care services — surgical and interventional care, 24/7 emergency services, intensive care, and complex inpatient medicine. With an aging population and growing clinical complexity in the surrounding region, Kent is committed to delivering exceptional care tailored to the needs of high-acuity patients.

An Expanding Ambulatory Platform: Kent is actively building a comprehensive ambulatory care infrastructure to serve patients closer to home. From diagnostics and preventive care to chronic disease management and specialty services, the ambulatory network is designed to meet the growing demand for convenient, accessible care in Warwick, the surrounding markets, and adjacent geographies.

System-Integrated Service Lines: As part of a clinically integrated system, Kent leverages its local strengths — particularly in surgery, cardiology, geriatrics, and oncology — while aligning closely with the service line excellence across Care New England. This includes Women & Infants Hospital’s nationally recognized care in women’s and newborn health, Butler Hospital’s leadership in behavioral health, and the CNE Medical Group’s coordinated primary and ambulatory care.

Awards, Recognition, & Quality Programs

Emergency Department has been recognized as a Pediatric Innovator, the highest designation awarded by the Rhode Island Department of Health’s Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) Program.

Emergency Department: ranked in top 10 % nationally for clinical excellence and patient satisfaction.
