Island Psychiatry is seeking a board-certified psychiatrist for high-level forensic evaluation and report-writing work on a 1099 basis.

This opportunity is ideal for a psychiatrist with strong clinical judgment, a professional temperament, and comfort with technology. This is intellectually serious work that is compensated at a higher compensation than typical clinical care.

Prior forensic experience is not required. We are open to psychiatrists who are bright, disciplined, analytically strong, and capable of producing clear, organized, and defensible work. Training, structure, and a report-writing framework will be provided for the right candidate.

This role offers the ability to do substantial professional work in a more flexible format, including remote report-writing, while building a valuable additional income stream outside of traditional patient-care hours.

Strong judgment and professionalism
Excellent organizational ability
Thoughtful, even temperament
Ability to analyze records, interviews, and clinical information carefully
Interest in evaluation, opinion formation, and written report development
Willingness to work within an established structure and quality framework

What this opportunity offers
Flexible 1099 arrangement

Intellectually engaging, non-routine work

Strong compensation (Training rate of $250/hr for first 10 hours and then up to $550 hr once training is complete)

Compensation
This is a high-value 1099 consulting opportunity compensated significantly above typical clinical hourly work. Compensation generally ranges from $425–$550+/hour, depending on psychiatric experience, writing ability, forensic or consultation background, case complexity, and level of independence. Psychiatrists newer to forensic-style report writing may begin at the lower end of the range while learning our framework, with opportunity to increase based on quality, efficiency, and independence.
This is a strong fit for psychiatrists seeking sophisticated side work with greater upside than standard hourly clinical work, without needing to build a forensic practice from scratch.
