Associate Professor

This position provides clinical care for patients with general neurological disorders, primarily in the inpatient service, including neurocritical care and general neurology. The role encompasses clinical, research, service, and teaching responsibilities, with participation in outpatient clinics, inpatient service, care coordination, and academic support through training fellows, residents, and medical students.

Key Responsibilities
  • 4-10 weeks of Neuro-Hospitalist service
  • 4-10 weeks of Neuro Critical Care Service
  • No more than 24 weeks of combined inpatient service, including a maximum of 8 weekends of call per year
  • Outpatient clinics that fulfill annual cFTE expectations as set by the Department of Pediatrics
  • Care coordination with Primary Care providers and multidisciplinary team members (dietitians, psychologists, and medical providers)
  • Provide weekend coverage of the South or North campus as needed
  • Provide clinical care services at Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO) Main Campus and/or Network of Care facilities across the Denver metro area
  • Provide clinical care at outreach clinics and hold telehealth clinics
  • Attend monthly faculty meetings
  • Provide academic support through the training of fellows, residents, and medical students
  • Attend relevant conferences and continuing education opportunities
  • Contribute to mentorship arrangements for faculty in Pediatrics and/or Neurology
  • Participate in the educational goals of the section, including teaching, supervision, and mentorship
  • Participate in administrative and professional development activities of the Section of Neurology
  • Engage and collaborate with clinical faculty and trainees from other schools, departments and divisions across the Anschutz Medical Campus
  • Provide strategic and clinical leadership for Neurology’s regional and external consultation services
  • Partner with section, regional, and institutional leaders to expand access, optimize care delivery models, and support sustainable program growth
  • Oversee clinical operations, provider engagement, and business planning to support high-quality care, faculty recruitment, and long-term funding strategies
Required
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Board Eligibility in Neurology with a Special Competence in Child Neurology
  • 0-4 years of experience as an attending physician and academic qualifications to fulfill requirements of associate professor rank
  • Experience with program development, teaching or research commensurate with associate professor rank
  • Examples of scholarship commensurate with associate professor rank
  • DEA certificate
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

  • Additional training and expertise in child neuromuscular care
  • Interest and experience in clinical research
  • Interest and experience in clinical trials
  • Interest and experience in education of medical students, residents/fellows

Job Summary:

This position will provide clinical care for patients with general neurological disorders, primarily in the inpatient service. The position will include clinical, research, service and teaching. Clinical responsibilities include participation in the outpatient general neurology clinic, 18-24 weeks of inpatient service to divided between neurocritical care and general neurology.

Key Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

• 4-10 weeks of Neuro-Hospitalist service
• 4-10 weeks of Neuro Critical Care Service
• No more than 24 weeks of combined inpatient service (as outlined above), including a maximum of 8 weekends of call per year that fulfills your annual cFTE expectations
• Outpatient clinics that, in addition to any inpatient weeks of service fulfills your annual cFTE expectations as set by the Department of Pediatrics

Clinical Program Medical Director, Regional Program time (0.20 FTE):

You are being provided 0.20 FTE protected time in support on your efforts as focused on the development of pediatric neurology’s regional care program and towards the development of your academic career plans. Specific activities will be as follows:
• Participate in administrative and professional development activities of the Section of Neurology.
• Engage and effectively collaborate with clinical faculty and trainees from other schools, departments and divisions across the Anschutz Medical Campus.
• Provide strategic and clinical leadership for Neurology’s regional and external consultation services, ensuring alignment with CHCO and CU Anschutz priorities.
• Partner with section, regional, and institutional leaders to expand access, optimize care delivery models, and support sustainable program growth.
• Oversee clinical operations, provider engagement, and business planning to support high-quality care, faculty recruitment, and long-term funding strategies.         

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Associate Professor:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Board

  • Eligibility in Neurology with a Special Competence in Child
    Neurology.

  • 0-4 years of experience as an attending physician and academic
    qualifications to fulfill requirements of associate professor rank.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

  • Associate Professor: $220,000 - $260,000
