Position Summary
The UCSF Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) is seeking an experienced and dedicated physician leader to serve as Medical Director of the Women’s Health Primary Care practice. This role offers the opportunity to lead a well-established ambulatory practice focused on comprehensive women’s health while contributing to UCSF’s mission to improve healthcare quality, access, and equity.
The Medical Director will oversee clinical operations and provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team of physicians and advanced practice providers. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care and contribute to the clinical, educational, and quality improvement missions of the division.
The selected candidate will provide comprehensive ambulatory internal medicine care and may participate in teaching, scholarship, and clinical practice improvement within either the Clinician Teacher or Clinician Educator track.

Founded in 1980 by Dr. Steve Schroeder, the UCSF Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) has grown to include about 80 faculty members, 3 fellows, 72 internal medicine residents (including 30 primary care residents), and 140 staff members. Primary Care Residency and Research Excellence
UCSF’s Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency program is nationally recognized for training physicians to care for complex patients across ambulatory and inpatient settings. In addition to clinical excellence, DGIM researchers conduct a broad spectrum of research, from human genetics to population health, all aimed at improving healthcare outcomes.
Women’s Health Primary Care is a key component of DGIM’s clinical programs, providing comprehensive, patient-centered care across the lifespan. Services include preventive health care (e.g., cervical and breast cancer screening), reproductive and sexual health (contraception, STI screening and treatment), prenatal and postpartum care, menopause management, and the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic conditions as they uniquely affect women.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5 . The minimum base salary range for this position is $114,100-$344,400. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
For positions that are 50% effort or less:
See Table 2 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $81,500-$246,000.
